How to Win the Battles of the Mind
Read the context the verse refers to
Today's chapter is 2 Corinthians 10
Proverbs 23 verse 7
For he is a cunning man; he says to you, "Eat and drink," but his heart is not with you.
Many thoughts enter our minds daily, but not all of them come from God. There are thoughts sent from the devil, who leave our minds like a battlefield. It is therefore important to know where our thoughts come from and what we do with them. In this lesson we will learn how to win the battles of our minds.
What is the mind?
Our mind is a territory and our mind is always under the influence of what or who has dominion in that territory. When the enemy looks into our minds, he is looking for an area to occupy. If he sees a weak area in our minds, he can occupy it and then draw attention to it in order to have power there.
How do our thoughts work?
Thoughts are unspoken words that are activated the moment we speak or receive them. Every thought has a cycle, a beginning and an end. Negative thoughts begin with a thought from Satan, like an arrow shot at the target. If we do not intercept this arrow of Satan, the arrow will become what it was sent to create. When a cycle is not stopped, the same thought pattern is repeated and the new things that God wants to release into our lives will be postponed until the old cycle is broken.
What do we do with negative thoughts?
When negative thoughts come, we can choose to:
Reject them (bring them into obedience in Christ)
Entertain them (consider them)
Meditate on them (Carry them long in our minds)
Foster them (allow them to take root in our lives and grow in our minds)
The enemy tries to gain influence by whispering lies and shooting arrows that can poison and condemn us into believing those thoughts are our own.
But we have the choice to either accept or reject them. How the thoughts that come from Satan develop depends on how we deal with them.
How do we know that thoughts are not from God?
When thoughts conflict with God’s Word, or are unrighteous and unholy, they are not from God.
Thoughts that we ignore are thoughts that we end up accepting and allowing to remain in our minds. Many people are addicted to drugs, pornography, abuse, alcohol addiction, and other things because when these thoughts entered their minds, they were accepted rather than rejected.
Therefore, those thoughts remained in the mind.

How do we win battles in the mind?
2 Corinthians 10 verse 4
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. We tear down edifices and every high thing that exalts itself against God, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. And we are ready to punish every disobedience, when obedience in you has first triumphed.
Judge the wrong thoughts.
We need to identify the wrong thoughts that we have allowed to occupy our minds.
We must confess the wrong thoughts before God.
We must repent wholeheartedly and confess before God that the thoughts are sin.
Repentance
Repentance means to start thinking differently
We must repent from sin. Repentance of the heart only comes when we turn away from sin. If our repentance is not genuine, God is unable to remove those thoughts.
We must take every thought as an obedient prisoner in Christ, renounce it and cast it out. We cannot overcome thoughts by just saying nice words. We must tear down mental structures, cast them out and bring them into full obedience to Christ
amen
