A FATHER'S HEART
HE SHALL TURN THE HEART OF THE FATHERS TO
THEIR SONS
AND THE HEART OF THE SONS TO THEIR FATHERS,
LEST
I COME
AND Smite the land with a curse.
Mal. 3:24
The
word "FATHER" has an enormous meaning in the Bible.
When
Jesus was about to leave his disciples, he said
"I WILL NOT
LEAVE YOU AS FATHERLESS;
I WILL COME TO YOU." (John
14:18)
Jesus was like a father to his disciples, and the
Holy Spirit is like a father to us.
We need a father to feel
secure. We need someone who rejoices in our progress and exults in
our victories. Someone who strengthens us in good, forgives us in
evil, and cleanses us and heals us.
We had a visit from
Lena Løbner, who, among other things, told that one day she realized
that Abraham was also her father in faith. It was as if something
fell into place, and she gained peace in her life.
Paul writes
that:
"HE (ABRAHAM) SHOULD BE THE FATHER
OF ALL
THE UNCIRCUITED WHO BELIEVED" Rom. 4,11
It is a powerful
thought that Abraham loves you as a son or daughter, and rejoices in
your faith, together with God our FATHER.
WE NEED BOTH GOD
AND
GOOD HUMAN FATHERS!
In Hebrew, father is called
אב Av,
but we know it best from the Aramaic Abba. If you go back to the time
when the Hebrew letters were images, the two letters of the word were
an ox and a tent, which gave the meaning strength in the house,
prosperity in the house.
The first letter א
aleph which was also the image of a also is also a word
for precisely ox, which is called עלעפ
אֶלֶף
The second letter בּ
Bet is almost identical to the word for house Bajit
בַּיִת,
and
originally it was a drawing of a tent.
When the father is in
your tent there is strength, prosperity and life, for the source of
all life is present.
Perhaps the greatest problem for man is the
spirit of fatherlessness. Envy, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc. stem
from a feeling of being abandoned and overlooked.
What suffering
could not have been avoided if the father's love came in with
presence and guidance.
The last verse in the Old Testament
is about restoring the relationship between fathers and sons Mal.
3:24
HE SHALL TURN THE HEARTS OF THE FATHERS TO THEIR
SONS
AND THE HEARTS OF THE SONS TO THEIR FATHERS…
Malachi
points out that the fruit of the Messiah’s coming is reconciliation
between generations, …and the fathers are to take the first
step!
GOD CALLS US TO BE FATHERS
AND MOTHERS WITH A TRUE
FATHER’S HEART,
JUST AS GOD IS A FATHER TO US.
May God
bless you!
