COME TO ME

Today’s chapter is Matt. 11

Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus invites all who are burdened, overburdened, or as the modern translation says, filled with stress, to come to Him, to find rest.
We often misunderstand what Jesus is saying and offering us.
When great burdens overwhelm us, our first appeal to God is:
You must remove it from my life, I can’t take it anymore…
It’s not like we can hand over a bag of trash and burdens to Him, and then walk on unchanged… God doesn’t always work that way.
God invites us to share the burden with Him, and walk closely with Him. He doesn’t just want our burdens and our trash.

HE WANTS YOU AND ME!
It is in the walk with Him that we can experience discipleship, character formation, and obedience to Him. God’s goal is not to remove the burden from us, but to WALK WITH US and carry the burden with us!

He longs to draw us closer to Him and have fellowship with Him in the midst of difficulties. Accept that offer from Him, and you will experience transformation in your walk with Him.
When we are to have our burdens lightened, it begins with CLOSENESS and COMMUNITY with God. The burden is not necessarily removed, but our thoughts and our responses to what we experience are changed and transformed because we come to Him and experience His love and our trust in Him.

When the weight is shifted from our shoulders to His carrying, we will experience relief and rest with Him in the midst of the situation.

His carrying means rest for our souls. The pressure may be there, but now we are not carrying alone, it lightens the burden.

COME TO ME, ALL YOU WHO ARE TIRED AND OVERBURDENED AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for my yoke is light…
